Future Of Flight

This is meant to act as a discussion forum for aviation and flight training professionals to debate, discuss and post ideas regarding the future of aviation. This is also a place for you to post questions for Mark Nemec as he is a frequent visitor to the forum.

What challenges do you see facing the future of collegiate aviation?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Resource Collaboration

Although schools compete for students, their should be a unifying body to connect schools in order to share resources such as instructors, equipment and curriculum.

    • The maintenance shortage is worse than the coming pilot shortage!

Everyone always talks about the future pilot shortage. But what about the maintenance guys and gals? Without them the planes don't fly. Raymond Thompson made a good point that it doesn't seem like maintenance is talked about much in regards to fulfilling future demand.

How can this be? Do we just not understand the effects a shortage in Aircraft Maintenance professionals will have on the aviation and travel industry?

      • Women In Aviation...We are missing half of the market!

The number of women graduating from higher education is increasing every year. To date it is somewhere around 53% of graduates are women, yet in aviation we are male dominant. As educators, what can be done to attract more women to the field of aviation?

One thought is to create a more collaborative curriculum which is more conducive to female learning styles...What do others think?
